A CSCS is a physical or virtual card that represents your rank and knowledge within a construction site. Examples of SMSTS CSCS cards include: black – managerial card, blue – skilled worker, or white – professionally qualified. In order to possess a CSCS card, you must first prove your competence and understanding of relevant health and safety requirements. This requires the successful completion of the CITB’s Health, Safety and Environment Test. Furthermore, to become a manager, you’ll need to pass an additional test, the SMSTS test (Site Management Safety Training Scheme). These tests can be carried out in centres across the country and will provide an invaluable learning experience that will help you to minimise risks.
