UN agencies have warned that Yemen is on the brink of famine and the window to prevent a food crisis there, is narrowing. The UNs Food and Agriculture Organization, the World Food Program and the UN agency for children have issued a joint statement. They said the number of Yemenis experiencing a catastrophic food insecurity could nearly triple next year to reach 47-thousand. The UN agencies said, the alarming number must be a wake-up call for the world to take action. The humanitarian situation has worsened in Yemen since Saudi Arabia waged its war there in March 2015. The conflict has devastated Yemens infrastructure and killed tens of thousands of people.
